Job Title: Business Analytics Developer

Location: Remote

Hours: 37.5 (Monday-Friday 9-5:30)

Salary: £25,000 – £35,000 DOE

 

Role Description

The role of the Business Analytics Developer is designed to provide software implementation, integration, development, migration and training services to clients on behalf of Aramar.

They may find themselves working as part of a large customer project team, delivering smaller programmes of work or working internally on solutions that have repeatable value. It can involve working on smaller projects where they are the only member of Aramar staff involved in the project, or as part of an Aramar team.

The key activities that this role involves are:

  • Working with software to develop solutions from scratch.
  • Working with software to re-build or re-engineer existing solutions, this may include developing integrations with other software solutions
  • Implementing Aramar out-of-the-box solutions.
  • Migrating customer solutions from local installation to cloud platforms.
  • Assist the Support Team with customer support cases.
  • Delivering training to customers.
  • Building proofs of concept to support sale team in specific sales opportunities.
  • Preparing clear system documentation for every project.
  • Maintain Aramar project records including progress reports, timelines and ensuring that decisions reached in project meetings are appropriately documented
  • Managing own workload across multiple projects.

 

The Role in Practice

If the Business Analytics Developer had been working at Aramar for the past month, they may have been involved with:

  • Talking to our customers about expanding their use of Planning Analytics into a new team
  • Running workshops with existing customers, showing them new functionality that has recently shipped
  • Re-engineering Aramar out-of-the-box solutions to deploy efficiently on alternative cloud platforms
  • Collaborating with colleagues on the best way to deliver specific customer requirements as part of an active project
  • Working with the Customer Success team to help develop training material that our customers can use when they are onboarding new team members
  • Supporting our customers to migrate their existing Planning Analytics models to IBM Cloud
  • Acquiring MDX skills, specifically in the context of Planning Analytics
  • Developing understanding of the IBM watsonx AI and data platform
  • Assisting our support team with ticket resolution

A Business Analytics Developer will have a general awareness relative to their area of expertise but within the context of our business. They will: –

  • Have a detailed knowledge of our core supported product sets.
  • Have continuing awareness of “best practice” relating to our core product sets.
  • Understand the importance of excellent system documentation including ‘in code’ commentary and supporting documents and manuals.
  • Keep up to date with new software versions and available functionality.
  • Willingness to share knowledge with Aramar team and take on board the experience of others.
  • Understand the Internal Business processes relating to the doing of work and the timely booking of time and expenses

 

Skills and Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

Technical Skills – Essential

  • Good understanding of SDLC methodology and principles.
  • Understanding of database design / programming diagram such as DFD, ER and UML.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Windows and Linux Operating Systems including knowledge of security and Active Directory administration.
  • SQL (DQL, DDL and DML)
  • Python

 

Technical Skills – Desirable

  • Basic DBA principles.
  • Web Server Technology such as Microsoft Internet Information Services
  • JavaScript
  • R
  • Visualisation tools – e.g. Tableau/PowerBI
  • MDX
  • ETL Tools

 

Hiring timeline 

This position will be advertised until 13th February 2025 with the aim of carrying out first interviews the week commencing 19th February 2025.
